Products We Love
We gave ourselves a special mission: to bring together some of our favorite products and services from black-owned mama and baby companies. From a thoughtfully curated kids bookshop to beauty products for the health-conscious mom, we’ve got you (and your baby) covered.
For Baby:
The Eco Baby Co, is committed to natural, non-toxic products and packaging with a sharp focus on organic, sustainable, and ethically sourced ingredients. Their products include pacifiers, toys, cloth diapers, and more. They also emphasize their packaging standards -- if a product is truly natural, non-toxic, and safe, the folks at The Eco Baby Co. believe it's packaging should be as well. That's why they’re passionate about only carrying plastic-free toys and products. They’re also mindful of labeling their products and having a selection of products free from common allergens.
Tippy Tot Shoes provide quality shoes with excellent foot support, comfort, and a foundation for healthy feet. This concept was brought about through the inspiration of one traditional baby shoe, all too familiar as a walking aide to help increase walking efficiency. They have custom specialty pieces to accessorize your toddler style. Tippy tot shoes dress children from birth to two years old and carry the largest selection of traditional leather upper hard bottoms and soft soles.
Ponytails or puffs. Braids or twists. No matter how they wear their hair - Coco’Pie Clothing’s goal is to show black girls how beautiful they are by placing their awesomeness front and center on their shirts! As a family-run apparel company, they understand how much representation matters and want it to be normal for black girls to see images of themselves in a positive way, every day. They have a full line of onesies, tees, and sweatshirts for children and women in a variety of sizes, that amplify the essence of black culture. They also have fun accessories, like earrings and tote bags.
Brave + Kind Books is a thoughtfully curated little neighborhood kids bookshop. It features a unique selection of diverse, classic, and artful stories. It was started by Bunnie Hilliard when she delved into children’s literature after having her kids. To her, a neighborhood bookshop builds community through education and relationships. At Brave + Kind, Hilliard handpicks the book selection. As youngsters, we’re told, “not to judge a book by its cover.” But most days, that’s exactly what Hilliard does. Her heart lies with beautiful, well-illustrated books that bring life to any bookshelf or sitting area. To her, children’s literature is more than a story — it’s a piece of art.
STINA & MAE was started shortly after the founder, Mishell, had her first child. After finding it difficult to find a changing mat that kept her son from touching gross public changing tables she decided to create one. She wanted the mat to be water-resistant on both sides, antimicrobial for easy cleaning and large enough to keep adventurous hands from touching anything. Thus, the SAFI vegan leather baby changing mat was created. STINA & MAE now sells a variety of handmade, organic products, including gift boxes, snuggle blankets, cotton wipes, bibs, and nursing pads, that are good for your baby and the environment.
This company pays special attention to all the doll features and skin tones, to create authentic representations that our children could grow up seeing their beauty from the start. They created the "The Fresh Dolls", an elegant fashion doll with an edge -- these dolls were intentionally created with fuller hips and thighs, and a more realistic waistline, with trendy fashion pieces. The newest addition to their doll line, The Fresh Squad, features 13 points of articulation for more realistic movements during play time.
For Mom:
After having her second child, Krystal Nicole Duhaney, Milky Mama’s founder, struggled with her milk supply and realized that there were very few resources for breastfeeding mothers in the same predicament. Using her knowledge as a Registered Nurse and love for baking, she developed a milk-making cookie recipe and fell in love with the results. These lactation cookies dramatically increased her supply. Soon after, she decided that she could not keep her discovery a secret and had to share this with other mothers who were going through a similar situation. Today, Milky Mama's product line includes delicious Lactation Cookies, Brownies (which are Krystal’s favorite), Emergency Brownies, Tropical Iced Tea, Lactation LeMOOnade, Lactation Smoothie Mix, and Herbal Supplements.
The Honey Pot Co was started when Bea Dixon, the founder, couldn’t get relief from her bacterial vaginosis. She set out to create the first complete feminine care system that cleanses, protects and balances the vagina. All Honey Pot products are herbal, 100% natural, and made by women. New mammas might especially appreciate the Postpartum Herbal Pads.
