Letter From Our Founder

We’ve been having a lively discussion about the name of our newsletter “The Push.” On the one hand, it feels empowering to reclaim a term that has symbolized women’s labor - and pain - since the beginning of time. On the other, the idea of pushing has become bogged down, marginalized even, for those who didn’t, or couldn’t, push their babies anatomically into our world.

“The Push isn’t about a singular act as it relates to birth”

Let me be lovingly clear.

The Push isn’t about a singular act as it relates to birth. Rather, the push is a multifaceted approach to however the heck you are pushing through boundaries, relationships, growth, the status quo, situation-ships, love, pregnancy, fertility, postpartum, and more. It’s about the mess and muck of it all.

Everyday, we see the support given to our members and hear stories from women everywhere. We’ve helped surrogate families living many states away, communicate with each other in ways that people sitting in the same room have a tough time accomplishing. We’ve been the pregnancy bestie for first-time parents who have poured all their resources into their fertility journeys to finally - finally! - achieve pregnancy. We’ve been there in the middle of the night when pregnancies have ended early in the journey with our members experiencing miscarriage and loss. We’ve been there for the planned and unplanned c-sections as constant supporters and comfort coaches. We’ve been there for birthing people who feel as though they are not seen or heard by connecting them with agencies that are fighting for their equal rights in and out of the delivery rooms.

There is one golden thread that’s existed through it all and that’s how we push through - navigating pregnancy, together.

The Push is about creating a space where we can celebrate it all. The push and the pull. Because we know that one doesn’t come without the other.

So, let’s get on with our loud and proud celebration! We can’t wait.
